Crazy Like a Fox; A Simile Story by Loreen Leedy

A not-so-complex but clever story, told entirely in similies, of a fox and a lamb. Other animal friends are shown in the story spouting thier own similies that describe the action.
Fun, bright, child friendly illustrations add to the building action that culminates into a big birthday party for the lamb.

Clever grammar exercises and activties are included in the back.

  1. I second the nomination of Crazy Like a Fox.
You don't have to be "smart as a whip" to realize that children will love this clever book of similes. Leedy's illustrations are colorful and action-packed. Children can participate by guessing the simile at each turn of the page and by following Leedy's directions for creating their own simile stories.

  2. SECOND. This book will interest kids of all ages and is a great introduction to similes. This book would be great for prompting whole class responses by allowing students to finish the line with their own simile. Great teaching tool.
